Habitat Restoration

The LEPS Restoration Program undertakes projects to restore stream and wildlife habitats that have been degraded by human activities. LEPS restoration sites are first identified through data collected by the Mapping and Inventory program.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to restore every area identified as a potential restoration site. Therefore, a detailed Prioritization Scheme is used to determine which areas to focus restoration efforts.

Restoration Activities

Restoration activities are divided into three program categories, each of which serves a different function. For information and examples about each of these categories, click on the appropriate link:

This map shows the general distribution of restoration projects completed by LEPS (note: if you have pop-up ad blocking software installed, this window may not appear).
