The Farm to School Program
The Farm to School Program strives to connect local farms with school cafeterias and classrooms to support local food production, create a connection with the farmer, help reduce our carbon footprint, and promote long term healthy eating habits by increasing access to local fruit and vegetables.
The vision for this program is to have local, fresh produce served at the Aldergrove Community Secondary School cafeteria. In 2012, the cafeteria started introducing local produce with a “create your own” sandwich bar and will integrate local produce into daily or weekly specials.
