Program Overview:

The Host A Hive Program invites individuals to support local ecosystems by hosting a honeybee hive on their property from April to September. Led by fully insured master beekeeper Bryn Jones, the program provides and maintains hives and healthy bee colonies while ensuring full compliance with municipal and provincial regulations regarding hive placement and flight path direction. 

Program is available in Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley.  Contact your local municipality to find out local bylaws regarding bee keeping.

Participation & Contribution:

Participants contribute a $1,300 charitable donation per season, which covers the cost of hive installation, bi-weekly inspections, disease management, and year-round colony maintenance. In appreciation, donors receive:

• A charitable tax receipt
• A case of locally produced honey
• The opportunity to directly support pollinator health and environmental sustainability

Hive Management:

Hives are professionally installed in May and removed in early September. All hive maintenance—including monitoring for and managing disease—is conducted by the beekeeper, with inspections occurring every two weeks or as needed to ensure colony health.
